Abba Mayanja brags about capturing top US producer’s attention. Jose Chameleone’s teenage son Abba Mayanja is celebrating a potential big break in the music industry in the United States.
He said he would soon start releasing some of his songs on social media, which he has been hesitant to do. Solomon encouraged him to aggressively push his music. “You should be talking about and posting it constantly to let people see,” he said.
Both Abba and Solomon are college students in the US, majoring in Biology and Business respectively. Looking to follow in the footsteps of his legendary dad, Abba recently saw success in his singing talent, which for a while he had kept hidden from the public.
The 18-year-old revealed on Sunday evening that he has been churning out music and putting it on streaming platforms where it has seen up to over 40,000 plays so far.
To his excitement, he says, a top music producer contacted him and told him his music was impressive.
He said, is signed to the celebrated American electronic music producer and DJ, Christopher Comstock, known professionally as Marshmello.
Abba revealed this during a TikTok livestream where he was chatting with his friend Solomon Kampala, son of Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine.
Solomon told Abba that he had listened to his music together with his girlfriend and that they both liked it. “I played it to (her) and she asked if you were really my friend. She was impressed,” Solomon said.
Abba says he has been recording music in his closet at their home in Minnesota.
“Studio is very expensive; I think you have to pay about $150 (Shs 570,000) an hour,” he said.
