Unlike the previous year, its absurd that no Ugandan artist has been nominated despite some having placements in the recently announced 2024 Grammy Awards considerations by the Recording Academy.
It should be recalled in October, Ugandan songstress Vinka’s song “Bailando” was considered for two Grammy nominations; Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance.
It should be noted that in 2022, Eddy Kenzo, became the first Ugandan to be nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards.
The Big Talent Entertainment boss was nominated alongside Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni; South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman; Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode; and Burna Boy are all running for Best Global Music Performance.
However, on the African continent, Nigeria’s Burna Boy scored four nods, including for Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance. Fellow Nigerian singer Davido secured three nods

Ugandan legendary singer, Jose Chameleone’s “Ready” song in which he combined efforts with Jamaican legendary recording and performing group Morgan Heritage, scooped a double consideration in categories, Best Global Music Performance and Best Music Video respectively.
